Are you really in the sales business?  No – you’re in the people business. Whatever you want in your life has to come from other people. Whether it’s service at a restaurant, the client to do business with you, your family and friends to do what you want, it all involves people.

5 Keys to Success in Sales

1.  Be committed to your idea, product or service and have full faith and belief in what you are offering. 

2.  Ask for what you want!  You may have done a great job expressing your idea, product or service, but unless you give the other person the instruction of what you want them to do – they don’t know it!  Be sure to ask for what you want.

3.  It’s okay to toot your own horn.  Share stories from past clients and experiences and how happy they were with what you had to offer.

4.  Be Unique.  You are uniquely you – let it shine! Don’t worry about telling it right or perfect, once you’ve followed steps 1 through 3, your uniqueness will shine through.  Add your own special flair to your presentation.

Time…the great equalizer.  We are all given the same amount of time each day to play with, work with and manage.  Regardless of your stature, position or income, we all get the same amount of time each day.  It’s how we use the time that determines our quality of life on every level.

Try these time management strategies to transform your life.

Worst Things First:  You know, that project sitting on your desk that you put off day after day because it’s no fun, tedious, challenging and you just don’t want to do!  How many times a day to you think “boy, I’ve got to get that done”, feel bad that you didn’t do it and then put it off to another time?  Then you stress because it’s not done yet, work on something else all the while thinking “I really should do that project”.  The time you spend thinking  about, avoiding and putting off that project is being stolen from you.  You know once it’s done you’ll feel better, be proud of yourself for finally getting it done and create a clearer space for creativity.  Employ the “worst things first” strategy and instantly reclaim time you were spending in thinking about it.

Drama Monitor:  It’s time to hire a Drama Monitor to alert you when drama, gossip or complaining is stealing your time.  Sometimes the drama will be performed by others in your life and sometimes by you!  Start noticing right now when conversation starts to make the turn and spirals into discussion of items you have no control over, anger and frustration at what ‘others’ have done or may be thinking, and have your Drama Monitor say “HALT!  I’m not going down that path and giving my time to unproductive negative conversation.” 

Make Decisions Boldly:  Have you struggled over a decision?  Experienced the paralysis of analysis syndrome?  Think now of the time that was lost during the time of indecision, not to mention the stress and angst caused during the process.   Brian Tracy says “Successful people don’t just make right decisions, they make their decisions rights.”  When faced with a decision and you don’t instantly know which way to choose, consider the best and worst case scenario of both sides of the decision.  If you can accept the worst case scenario as not so bad, go for it.  Still struggling?  I find that forcing myself to make a decision is often the clue that I should NOT be choosing that thing, or perhaps, just not at that moment.  Learn to listen to and trust your gut — it tells the truth.

“What Are You Reading?”

author book published 150x150 What Are You Reading?I have shared often my commitment to continuous learning and listening.  Last week I began reading Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People” which is one of the original books on how to succeed in business (and in life) through your relationships with others.  It may come as a surprise that this is my first reading of this legendary book and, I’m happy to say, it is no surprise that I find myself already living in accordance with the principles in the book. (Clearly these principles have been shared and taught by others as well.)

While there really is nothing new to learn when it comes to the basic principles of human behavior and interaction, reading, listening to CD’s and attending events are essential for reinforcing and continuing to live in accordance with them, creating your most *Extra*Ordinary, Successful and Prosperous Life!

If so, then you need to invest some time and a bit of hard work. In order to make money online, you need a website, and then you have to get traffic to that site, which usually doesn’t happen overnight. However, with pay per click affiliate marketing, you can have a product to promote and get get visitors to your site fast.

If your website isn’t getting any visitors, then you obviously need to promote it more. Not only should you try to generate more visitors, you should also keep your website filled with informative info and original content. In other words, don’t just copy and paste from other sites, you need to make your own as original as possible. Only then will you be able to make money with pay per click affiliate marketing.

Spend some time developing your own marketing strategy. You can find many great ideas all over the internet about how to successfully bring visitors to your site. Some methods cost money while others are free. Once again, making money online doesn’t just happen overnight, so don’t expect to find any shortcuts. Take your time and figure out what tactics work best for you and your pay per click affiliate marketing strategy.

One of the best places to start is Google. A program such as Google AdSense can make you a very wealthy individual, just as long as you’re getting visitors to your website. With this particular type of pay per click affiliate marketing, you can host sponsor ads on your site. This means that other websites that are similar to yours will have a placed banner or link on your website.

So why should you allow competitors to advertise on your own site? Because they’ll pay you for it. Actually, they’ll pay Google for doing it on their behalf. Google AdSense will give you your share of the money every time one of your visitors clicks on your sponsor ads. Some people are so determined to have the best advertising campaign possible, that they are willing to pay a lot of money. In fact, some will even pay upwards to $10 for every single click! If you get thousands of visitors a day to your site, and many of them click on your pay per click affiliate marketing ads, you have the opportunity to earn a significant amount of money.

How will Google know what type of ads to place on your site? It’s simple: whenever you sign up for AdSense and place the ad code on your site, Google will then analyze your site. Their system then places ads that are relevant to the content that your sites page is about. That’s all there really is to it. The hardest part with type of pay per click affiliate marketing is getting your website popular enough for it to be effective in the first place! Once you’ve found a marketing tactic that works, however, you need to stick with it.

Another type of pay per click affiliate marketing is where you promote someone else’s product as an affiliate and then sign up for an account at places such as Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing or MSN Adcenter. You can then create an ad for your product and promote it on these search engines where you pay a certain amount when someone clicks on your ad, which by the way will take them to your site or product. This is a great way to get immediate traffic and visitors.
