What’s Your Footprint?

What’s Your Footprint?

With each step we take we also leave an impression on the spot we moved from.  What kind of footprints do you leave behind?  As you take each step be aware of the impact that step makes on the people, the community and the world around you.  Everything is cause and effect and I invite you to consider what effect you are causing.

When you leave the room, what do people say about you?

When you leave this earth, what do you want people to say about you?

You have the power in this moment to thoughtfully choose the steps you take, ever mindful of the footprint you leave behind.

You have the power now to make your steps count, for the highest good of yourself and others when you infuse each step with the awareness and intention for the footprint you want to leave behind.

This Monday, January 16th, Frank McKinney is taking steps and leading the way for us to do the same.  He begins the first ever “Survival to Thrival Tour” where he is visiting soup kitchens, homeless shelters and food pantries in 16 cities, spending time directly assisting these people and making significant donations to care-giving organizations that catch Americans when they fall.  As the amazing leader that he is, Frank has created an opportunity for US to take a step and support this cause and he’s made it so easy for us!  At each of the locations where Frank is stopping, he will give an aspirational talk on how all of us, including the most desperately poor and homeless can move forward from survival to thrival.  When you attend, $25 will be donated to the organization for each person that attends!  That’s right.  400 people show up and $10,000 gets donated to the organization.

Go now to http://wpnglobal.com/thrival for my personal invitation for you to take a step for a cause that will create a positive effect for Americans across the country.

Now that’s what I call a great footprint!

What’s Your #1 Wish for 2012?

Happy New Year!New Years 2012 300x200 Whats Your #1 Wish for 2012?

Okay … it’s here!  2012 has arrived and brought with it excitement, hope, inspiration and anticipation of having this be your best year yet.

Quick…Answer this question:

What is the #1 thing you want to have happen in your life this year?

Write down your answer and brainstorm a list of all the things you can do to be in action moving towards that goal.  Napoleon Hill said “Patience, perseverance and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.”

2012 can absolutely be your breakthrough year if you have patience, with unwavering faith and the belief that what you want will happen for you.  If you have the persistence to never give up on your goal (like Jack Canfield who pursued 133 publishers before finding “The One” to publish Chicken Soup for the Soul.)  If you’re willing to perspire and put in the effort and energy  and be in consistent action toward your goal.

To achieve your goals it is essential for you to hold on to the excitement and enthusiasm you now feel throughout the days, weeks and months to come.  Go now to:  http://NancyMatthews.com/kickoff and access the replay of my special New Year’s Day tele-class “How to Make 2012 Your Breakthrough Year!”

Today’s Intention:  To enjoy and savor the moments and to be a beacon of  love, light and creativity.

I honor my children and excitedly await what I will learn from them today.

I honor my time and stay focused on tasks through completion.

I honor my friends by showing love and compassion and practicing verbal harmlessness.

I honor my clients by continuing to learn and grow to be of service to them at my fullest potential.

I honor the WPN community by providing a space for them to connect, grow and flourish.

I honor God by remembering to thank Him for all that I have and to trust Him for all my needs.

I go forth this day knowing that I am filled with an abundance of creativity and magic to share my gifts and talents with others and receive abundant prosperity in return.  This is the circle and cycle of life — Giving and Receiving.

I’m in Dallas today and the City is on fire with excitement for the Dallas Mavericks as they head into Game 6 of the NBA Championships.  I started thinking about how the players on both teams may be feeling today.  The Mavericks  gearing up with the shot of clinching the title tonight and the Heat gearing up with the task of having to win tonight’s game and the next one as well.  Certainly, the heat is on for both teams and we know that each player will show up tonight and bring their best game to the Court.

Today Is a Gift – What Will You Do With It?

today is a gift Today Is a Gift What Will You Do With It?We have the power to create our lives in each moment, it is the moment of choosing.  When we choose to create our lives with intentionality, rather than allowing the circumstances that occur to shape our lives, we gain control of the only thing we truly can control  — our thoughts.

Choose your thoughts with intention, create each day with expectation of seeing the miracles that are waiting for you to recognize them.  In my morning meditation and journaling, I was inspired to share these suggestions with you, so that you can enjoy each moment that TODAY has given you:

T      Time is endless and there is plenty of it, feel each moment and know that you will accomplish all you are meant to with grace and ease.

O      Order – Everything really is in perfect order (even if it doesn’t feel like it).  Look for the lessons and gifts in each moment that add to the fabric of your life.

D       Develop yourself, seek out opportunities to expand your awareness and your consciousness.

Appreciate the gifts you already have and Acknowledge others for their gifts and for adding value to your life.

It’s Okay To be Spoiled

It’s Okay to be Spoiled spoiled princess 150x150 Its Okay To be Spoiled

On my latest road trip to Jacksonville I realized that I’m spoiled.  Well, actually I already knew that but what I realized is that it’s okay to be spoiled as long as you don’t let it ruin your day when you don’t get exactly what you want.  I had been travelling for several days and was met with a series of somewhat challenging experiences.  The hotel had one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in, the air conditioning in my room was broken and their “business center” didn’t allow me to conduct any business (broken computers, printers).  Being a champion of gratitude, with each challenge I took a deep breath and was thankful that I had a bed, a safe place to sleep, food to eat and that I was privileged to be leading a training for a team of Jafra managers and consultants who were enthusiastic, inspired and going for more – my kind of people!  All of these were truly minor details and paled in comparison to the exhiliaration I experienced from the weekend conference.

After leaving the conference I stayed with my friend, Glenn, who graciously opened his home, asked his 11 year old daughter to give up her bed for me and thoughtfully set up the coffee pot in the evening so all I had to do was push the ‘ON’ button in the morning.  I was the first one up in the morning and as I went to push the ‘ON’ button – MY button got pushed.  “Oh no!  Flavored coffee!!  I don’t like flavored coffee.  I want pure black coffee.  Yuk, this is vanilla flavored, I hate that!”  As I pondered getting in my car to find the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts and debated whether I would trip the alarm as I left and wake up the entire house, I paused and realized:  “Boy Am I Spoiled!”  In that moment I had a choice.  Let a cup of vanilla flavored coffee ruin my morning or choose to reframe this circumstance – “Oh, this is a new experience for me.  Perhaps it will be so delicious.”    It was in that instant that I recognized – It’s Okay to Be Spoiled, As Long As You Don’t Let It Spoil Your Day!

I smiled to myself, poured a cup of French Vanilla Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and went about my morning ritual of reading and journalling.   Ahhh…. the power of choice.  I got to choose how I felt and how I responded.  Remember you have the power to choose how you want to respond to circumstances and events.  As John Maxwell says “What happens to you isn’t as important as what happens in you.”

If you’re wondering whether or not I liked the French Vanilla ….  I didn’t.  I’m still spoiled and that’s okay!

Have You Ever Felt Like This? (Better Still…How to NOT Feel Like This.)

Have You Ever Felt Like This?
(Better Still…How to STOP Feeling Like This!)
by Nancy Matthewsoverwhelm 150x150 Have You Ever Felt Like This? (Better Still...How to NOT Feel Like This.)

Confession time — I felt like this just this morning (and perhaps a little yesterday too.)  As many of you know, we are in the process of launching a huge expansion of WPN, planning the 4th Annual Prosperity Conference (with Jack Canfield) and managing the ongoing day to day operations of WPN.  Add to that my private client coaching practice, speaking career and 2 children, 1 grandson and 2 dogs and well, you get the picture.  I’d venture to guess that your picture is about the same.

I know for a fact that my daily practice of centering myself, declaring my intentions and choosing how I want to feel during the day is absolutely essential and a key factor in managing and eliminating overwhelm on a consistent basis.  Not sure why it happened, but today overwhelm got the better of me (for a short time).

So what do you do when overwhelm, stress or frustration take over?

First, recognize it.  For me the tension was building in my shoulders and neck and I was feeling rushed, anxious and stressed.   It is in the moment of recognition that we can gain control and choose to feel differently.  You may be saying “easy for you to say,” but “HOW” do you make the shift.

Second, use your tools.  Take a moment to get present.  Repeat “All you can do is all you can do and all you can do is enough.” (~Art Williams) and believe it!  You will get done everything you’re meant to do.  Take a step back, take some nice deep breaths and find joy, beauty and/or appreciation in your surroundings.  This is the moment to get grounded and centered.  If you’re feeling better, head on back and create your ‘priority’ list with a new sense of peace.  Still not there…

Third, talk about it.  Call a trusted friend, one who ‘gets’ it and who ‘gets’ you (rather than one who will let you wallow in it and stay stuck in the problem).  I reached out to my amazing sister, Susan, who reminded me that I will get done all I’m meant to do today and that the majority of the items belong on God’s to do list and not mine.  Once you put it on His list, miracles happen and what is supposed to happen does.  I was also speaking with my friend, Evie Hernandez, and she immediately sensed I was a bit off.  When I shared I was feeling overwhelmed she asked “Are these things you ‘have’ to do or ‘want’ to do.”  AHHH….that was it!

I forgot that I ‘want’ to do all these things because they’re in alignment with my mission and purpose.  I want to do this Monday newsletter because it serves the community and helps the members of WPN!  I want to be on the Board of Directors conference call for the Ghana Orphanage because it helps the women and children. I want to create new videos to post on You Tube because it helps people in business with their marketing and follow up.  Yes, Yes, Yes, I want to do all these things and I will get everything done that I’m meant to do.

What do you ‘have’ to do today?  What do you ‘want’ to do today?  Quality of life is simply a shift in perspective.
